Our crewel tulip hanging dishtowel/towel topper design is reminiscent of designs used in early forms of English embroidery.  Crewel embroidery reached its height in popularity during the reign of James I and is also referred to as Jacobean work.
Crewel embroidery yarn is a thin worsted wool yarn of two threads. 

The design was stitched in rich colors of brown, orange, yellow and green on cream linen.  A brown towel was attached to finish the design.
